3 bullet-hit in Ctg ‘gunfight’

CHITTAGONG: At least three persons sustained bullet injuries in a ‘gunfight’ between police and Jamaat cadre Dakat Shahid and his cohorts in Satkania upazila of the district on Sunday late night.

The bullet-wounded are Dakat Shahid, 30 and two of his aides Borhan, 27 and Sayem 28.

Locals told banglanews that the gun battle took place at a garden of Babunagar village in Madarsa union of the upazila starting from around 11:30pm.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Satkania Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaled Hossain said that Shahid along with his aides was planning for sabotage there at that time.

“Being tipped-off, a team of police conducted a drive there, but, sensing their presence, the gang opened fire aiming police,” he added.

OC said that police also opened fire on that moment for self-defense, leaving the three men injured.

However, they have been rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital and police seized a good number of arms and ammunitions from the spot.

Shahid was accused in21 cases filed with Satkania Thana.
