DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) student affairs secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie was granted bail after he surrendered before the court.
Earlier on Sunday, an arrest warrant was issued against Annie and some BNP leaders.
The BNP leader said he could not appear before the court in the case filed with Paltan Thana as he was in a tour in Bhutan for several days.
Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan, magistrate of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-6, passed arrest order on Sunday morning.
After returning from Bhutan on Monday, Annie surrendered to the court and appealed for bail.
Later, Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan granted the bail.
A total of 46 BNP leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, were made accused in a case filed with Paltan Thana for creating anarchy and disturbance by picketing, filed in March this year.
