DHAKA: Dr Zobaida Rahman, wife of BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, has been dismissed from the government job due to absence for more than five years and ten months.
The dismissal order was issued as per section 34 of the service rules of government.
Despite her dismissal, Zobaida has to answer a notice from the Health Ministry about the reasons of her absence.
However, there also is a provision of giving back the job for if the answer is found reasonable. Otherwise, authority will publish a press release in the newspapers in this regard.
The authority granted Dr Zobaida’s leave till October 11, 2011. Later, she applied to extend the leave showing reasons that her husband’s treatment was not completed.
But the Health Ministry did not grant her leave as it did not consider the cause as reasonable.
Once again, she applied to the Health Secretary on January 17, 2012 to extend her leave. But the secretary ordered her to return and join immediately. Zobaida did not return.
Dr Zobaida took leave on November 3, 2008 to accompany her sick husband Tarique Rahman to UK for better treatment.
