DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) submitted their audit reports to the secretariat of the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday, the last extended date for submission of the report for last fiscal year.
Earlier, the party failed to submit the report by July 31 and prayed to the EC to extend the deadline. And, the EC later set it to August 14.
However, according to the report, Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s expense is 3 times higher than their income.
BNP earned above Tk. 75 lakh in the year of 2013-14 which came from the party leaders and activists’ contribution.
On the same time, the party’s expenditure is above Tk. 2.25 crore which was mainly outlaid at arranging different rallies, publishing leaflets, party offices staffs’ salary and anniversary of the party and its founder Ziaur Rahman.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that they have a shortage of around Tk. 1.5 crore.
According to the Political Parties Registration Rules, 2008, all the registered parties must have their financial transactions of a calendar year audited by a chartered accountant firm and submit a copy of the firm's report to the Commission.
