DHAKA: Security at the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office of the city has been beefed up on Friday morning. Additional police forces in uniform and plainclothes have been deployed in the area.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion are patrolling the area. Armored personnel carrier, water canon, and prison vans are seen standing there.
No BNP leader and activist are being allowed to stay in front of the office, the party sources alleged.
BNP joint secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, now staying inside the office, said that besiege the central office of a political party without any allegation is equal to showing disrespect to democracy and barring democratic rights.
Paltan Thana Officer-In-Charge Golam Morshed told banglanews, “Forces has been increased to maintain the law and order situation, police presence in the area has been increased as part of the citywide security measures.”
