DHAKA: BNP complained that the government is planning to restore Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (BAKSAL) by restoring authority of the parliament to impeach Supreme Court judges.
“The government wants to restore BAKSAL in the country to reinstall the power of the parliament over the judiciary,” said acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He came up with the assertion on Monday while talking to journalists after placing floral wreath at the Mazar of former president of the country and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the founding anniversary of Swechhasebak Dal.
Mirza Fakhrul commented that there will not remain any freedom of judiciary if the articles restored in the constitution.
He said that basically the government took the initiatives to bring BAKSAL back.
Swechhasebak Dal president Habib-un-Nabi Khan and general secretary Mir Sharfat Ali Sapu, among others, were present at the program.
