DHAKA: Ruling Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Tuesday said there is no discussion with BNP as the party chief Khaleda Zia has divided the nation by celebrating her fake birthday on August 15.
The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion while addressing a program organized by Jatiya Bidyut Shramik League marking the National Mourning Day at WAPDA Bhaban in city’s Motijheel area.
He also said the newly formulated national broadcast policy was made on the demand of television authorities not for ours.
The policy was made by a board consisting of TV owners, journalists, teachers and NGO workers, he added.
The AL leader said a bill about the impeachment of judges was approved in the cabinet. This kind of law remains in every democratic country in the world, he added.
He also said the parliament is in favor of democracy not autocracy.
Indicating BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, he said the BNP leaders talk for democracy but they believe in autocracy.
They should avoid this sort of dual policy, he added.
Jatiya Bidyut Shramik League President Zahirul Islam Chowdhury chaired the program.
