3 Jamaat leaders sent to jail in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR: A Laxmipur court on Thursday sent three Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including Kamalnagar upazila vice-chaiman Maulana Mohammad Humayun Kabir, also upazila Jamaat Ameer, to jail in arson and vandalism cases.

The other two accused are Ramganj municipality unit Jamaat secretary M Hafizur Rahman Miron and Darbespur Union Jamaat Ameer Kazi Farid Uddin.

Law enforcers arrested Miron and Farid from Darbespur area on Wednesday night and Maulana Mohammad Humayun Kabir from Kamalnagar upazila in the afternoon, reported banglanews correspondent.

Officer-in-Charge of Kamalnagar Thana Humayun Kabir told banglanews that there are 28 cases filed against Maulana Mohammad Humayun Kabir for arson, vandalism, blocking roads and spreading terror before January 5 general election.

On the other hand, Ramganj Thana Officer-in-Charge M Lokman Hossain said they arrested Miron and Kazi Farid Uddin, in a special drive, for creating anarchic situation in the name of anti-government demonstrations.
