CHITTAGONG: BNP leader Syed Wahidul Alam on Saturday criticized the government as they filed cases against BNP men and attacked them.
“Filing cases and attacks are the ornaments of the illegal government,” he said indicating ruling Awami League.
The BNP leader came up while addressing addressing a human chain program on the occasion of International Disappearance Day that falls on August 30 at Press Club Point in the port city.
BNP-led 20-party alliance organized the program demanding national election under caretaker government.
Syed Wahidul Alam also claimed that the government is involved in conspiracy against the country.
The former whip also criticized the government’s tendency of filing cases against the opposition.
He alleged that the newly formulated broadcast policy aims to curb the freedom of media.
The government also wants to ‘control’ the justice department enacting impeachment power to the Parliament, he added.
With Chittagong BNP general secretary Shahdat Hossain in the chair, the program was addressed, among others, by city BNP president Osman Gani Sikder, city Labour Party president M Alauddin, Chittagong LDP general secretary Shawkat Hossain and city Kalyan Party general secretary M Elias.
