DHAKA: At least six people were injured as leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, students of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), locked into clashes in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Sunday.

The clashes began among the followers of leaders who got post and who deprived post in newly formed JCD committee.

The angry leaders and activists blasted cocktails in the area.

Agitated post-deprived JDC men chased the post-holder leaders,   broke the main entrance of the office, vandalized inside the office and apparently have taken control over there.

During the clash, the JCD man broke the mural of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, located in front of the office.

At least 15 mores BNP top leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir,  joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Jubo Dal President Moazzem Hossain Alal, and JCD president Rajib Ahsan and general secretary Akramul Hasan was besieged inside the office.

A large number of police forces were deployed in the area but they did not intervene during the clashes.
