DHAKA: Monday is the 36th anniversary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

On September 1, 1978, the late President Ziaur Rahman formed the party with a 19-point program aiming to build a self-reliant Bangladesh.

However, his party has chalked out a three-day programs starting from Sunday to celebrate the occasion.

It includes hoisting party flag, placing wreaths at the grave of party founder, holding discussion and taking out a colorful procession, a press release said on Friday.

Amongst the programs, a special documentary is set to be displayed at 10:00am on Sunday at the National Press Club’s second floor in city.

Nevertheless, party’s activities and achievements from the beginning will be presented there.

Later on Monday, party and national flags were hoisted atop all the offices of BNP across the country, including its Nayapaltan central office at 6:00 am.

Moreover, BNP chief Khaleda Zia along with the party leaders and activists are scheduled to place wreaths and offer fateha at the mazar of its founder Ziaur Rahman at 10am on the founding day.

On the other hand, a discussion will also be held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 3:00pm of that day.

Furthermore, the party will bring out a colorful procession at 10:00am on Tuesday from in front of its Nayapaltan central office.

Associate bodies of BNP will also mark the founding day across the country with various programs, including hoisting party flag, holding discussions and rallies.
