DHAKA: A Dhaka court deferred the hearing on charge framing against 46 leaders of BNP-led 18-party alliance, including BNP’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, till September 24 in an arson case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ataul Haque issued the order on Thursday.
Advocate Joynul Abedin Mezbah moved for the defendants in the case.
On May 10, Investigation Officer of Detective Branch of police (DB) Nurul Amin submitted charge sheet against the 46 leaders-activists of 18-party.
On April 29 in 2012, police filed a case against BNP leaders and activists for torching police vehicle in front of Prime Minister’s office in city.
The accused are- BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, MK Anwar, ASM Hannan Shah, Former Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed, Standing Committee member Dr Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and others.
