DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday observed that justice in the country would be hampered if the impeachment power of the judges goes to the parliament.
“The people of the country will not get justice if the authority of impeaching judges goes to the hands of the MPs, who have little people’s mandate,” he said.
The spokesperson for the party made the observation while addressing a program of a reception and certificate giving ceremony of GPA-5 students, organized by ‘Amra Kajan’ on Sunday at Central Public Library in city.
BNP finance affairs secretary Abdus Salam chaired the function.
Terming democracy as people’s basic right, Fakhrul said younger people should come forward to change the country as well as to establish justice in society which will also be free from discrimination, corruption and poverty.
He further said students should prepare themselves to lead the country. “Your leadership will make the country prosperous,” he said.
