DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday issued arrest warrant against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fahrul Islam Alamgir and two others in a vandalism case.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Yunus Khan issued the arrest warrant in a case filed with Kadmatali Thana of the capital on charge of vandalism police vehicles and obstruction of discharging police duties.
The other two accused are Mohammad Ali and Nasir.
Fakhrul’s lawyer Zainul Abedin Mezbah confirmed the matter to banglanews.
On January 16, Sub-inspector Jahid Khan of Kadamtali Thana submitted the charge sheet in Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court against 61 people, including Fakhrul and former MP of BNP Salahuddin Ahmed.
The court also fixed Sunday for taking the charge sheet into cognizance.
Later, the court issued the arrest warrant as three accused, including Fakhrul were not present before the court though 58 were present there.
The statement said the accused set fire in police vehicles and attacked the law enforcers in front of Eagle Box factory in city’s Postogola area on December 9, 2012.
