DHAKA: BNP leader Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker was arrested in a shop occupying case from his office at Meherba Plaza in the city on Monday afternoon.
Duty Officer of Paltan Thana Wahiduzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He also said, “One Ruhul Amin took a shop of Bijoynagar Deaf Market on lease for 60 years from the president of the market Taimur Alam Khandaker. But Taimur Alam has been conspiring to uproot him by cancelling his lease including filing cases against him.”
Once the High Court also gave its verdict in favour of Ruhul Amin, he added.
In spite of all these, on September 11, Taimur Alam Khandaker with the help of some accomplices broke the locks of the shop and vandalized electrical equipments, he added.
Later, Ruhul Amin filed a case against Taimur Alam in this connection and police arrested him.
Duty Officer Wahiduzzaman also told that Taimur was not arrested in any political case.
Narayanganj City Jubo Dal convener Maksudul Alam Khandaker alleged that Advocate Taimur had altercations with Awami League supporting lawyers at a court in Dhaka in the morning where he went to move for Mia Mohammad Apu, personal assistant Tarique Rahman.
Later, police detained him in a case of National Deaf Council, Maksudul Alam Khandaker added.
