DHAKA: Long tailbacks were seen at different areas of the capital while there was no picketing during first six hours of Thursday’s hartal.
The hartal, enforced by the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, protesting Supreme Court appeal verdict that sentenced Delawar Hossain Sayedee to imprisonment unto death for war crimes, will continue till Friday 6:00am.
Banglanews mobile team visited Malibagh, Shantinagar, Kakrail, Bijoynagar, Paltan, Fakirapool, Shahjahanpur, Arambagh, Motijheel, Gopibagh, Swamibagh, Jatrabari, Jurain, Shyamnagar, Mir Hajaribagh, Narinda, Wari, and Gulistan area.
But, no activities supporting hartal were seen at that time.
However, some rallies and processions were seen at different area against the hartal, including Gulistan and Bangabandhu Avenue area, held by ruling Awami League activists.
Law enforces were on ‘alert’ position at important points and spots with riot-car, water-cannon and prison-van.
