NEW YORK: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will come to New York to attend the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) New York unit will arrange demonstrations protesting the PM’s visit.
Since there is no BNP committee in the USA, two party-fractions will organize separate rallies.
To show protest against Sheikh Hasina-led government, a fraction led-by BNP’s founding convener in the USA and also BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s foreign envoy Dr Mujibar Rahman Majumder will arrange a rally while another fraction led-by Sarafat Hossain Babu and Jasimuddin Bhuiyan will arrange the separate rally under the banner of BNP and other 34 organizations during her USA tour.
A source concerned said that both of the BNP fractions will show demonstrations in front of JFK International Airport in New York protesting Bangladesh Prime Minister’s visit.
They will also arrange rally at Freedom Square in front of the United Nations during Hasina’s speech at the general assembly.
Earlier on Thursday, a meeting chaired by Dr Mujibur Rahman Majumder took decision of the demonstrations both at JFK and Freedom Square.
