DHAKA: Bangladesh National Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday urged the countrymen to observe Monday’s hartal peacefully.
The spokesperson for the party came up with the plea in a statement in the evening.
He also demanded to withdraw the false cases against the leader and activists of opponent parties as well as their unconditional and immediate releases.
The BNP-led 20-party alliance called countrywide daylong hartal on Monday protesting the restoration of the Parliament’s authority to impeach judges.
Moreover, the BNP senior leader condemned the arrest and repression of BNP leaders and activists.
Spelling a strong warning to the incumbent government, Fakhrul said the government could not be able to stop the democratic movement repressing them.
Rather, the opponent party would be stronger and more organized, he added.
With the support of people of the country, the opposition will be more promising to make the movement stern and swifter, Fakhrul commented.
The statement also said the transport carrying hajj pilgrims and dead bodies, ambulance, fire service vehicles, medicine shops, hotels will be out of purview of hartal.
