CHUADANGA: At least five people were injured in chase and counter-chase between police and BNP leaders-activists in Chuadanga on Monday centering pro-hartal procession.
Sources told banglanews that at least five BNP men were injured at that time while police detained more three.
Witnesses said that police chased BNP leaders and activists from bringing out procession at Shaheed Hasan point in town around 11:00am supporting BNP-called daylong hartal protesting restoration of parliament’s authority to impeach judges.
A chase and counter chase took place between the police and BNP men at that time, witnesses added, leaving five BNP leaders and activists injured.
Moreover, sources said, after the clashes, police detained district Jubo Dal convener committee member Arifuzzaman Pintu, Jubo Dal activist Sayeed Hossain and Chhatra Dal leader Tauhiduzzaman Tauhid from that area.
Chuadanga assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Kamruzzaman, confirming the matter, said that they were detained for creating anarchy and trying to vandalize vehicles in town.
