CHITTAGONG: The law enforcers detained 35 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islam and its student wing Chhatra Shibir from several places of Satkania and Lohagara upazila of the district on Thursday night.
Among them 19 were held from Satkania and rest of others were held from Lohagara upazila.
Assistant police Commissioner of Satkania Emran Bhuiyan said that police led a special drive in Chhadaha, Keuchia and Municipality areas of the upazila and held 19 Jamaat-Shibir men and seized some local made arms and disseminating radical religious books from their possession.
Law enforcers also traced a training camp of Jamaat-Shibir activists where they took arms training, he added.
On the other hand Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Thana M Shahjahan said that 16 Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists were held in a special drive on Thursday night.
All of them were accused for creating violence, he added.
