DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia has greeted people of the country, including the Hindu community, on the occasion of Durga Puja.
The greeting came from a press release signed by BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi informed media on Monday.
Khaleda Zia, in the statement, said Durga Puja has been celebrating with befitting manner among the Hindu community in the country and other parts of this subcontinent since time immemorial.
She further said any religious festival makes bridge between people and strengthens fraternity.
Every religion preaches the message of world peace and betterment of the human beings. “It is our duty to work for the establishment of peace and fraternity in society,” she said.
The creed of Durga Puja is to establish heavenly peace and ensure justice annihilating the evil power.
The former premier also added: “We should share the celebration and festivity among others.”
Terming Bangladesh, a country with religious harmony, Khaleda Zia said people, irrespective of faiths, should be aware of any evil interference.
BNP is committed to protect religious freedom of every person of the country. “We do not believe in the theory of division in the name of majority and minority.
We all are Bangladeshi and it is our top identity,” the BNP chief observed.
