DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal and its adjacent areas at Ramna in the capital were taken under stiff scrutiny measures to avert any untoward situation ahead of verdict of BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.

From Monday evening, Police, RAB and intelligence personnel have been kept alert to ensure the security.

However, check posts were set up surrounding the Supreme Court area. They are searching suspected persons in adjacent roads, including entrance of the court.

Besides, Armored Personnel Carrier (ACP) has been kept ready in front of the tribunal to dodge any procession and gathering.

Regarding the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police of Ramna Zone Deputy Commissioner Maruf Hasan told banglanews: “All types of security measures have been taken to avoid violence centering the verdict.”

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 is scheduled to pass the verdict in war crimes related case against BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury on Tuesday.

On August 14, the tribunal led-by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir concluded the proceedings of the case fixing no date and time for the verdict.
