DHAKA: Ruling Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim categorically said the country would face disaster if BNP assumes power next.
He came up with the apprehension in a conference to commemorate the 26th death anniversary of former president of Awami League, organiser of the Liberation War Abdul Malek Ukil at the Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
Mohammad Nasim said: “All the apprehensions have been cleared. People have understood that there is no alternative of Sheikh Hasina in the next general election.”
He also added, “Militancy will revive if BNP assumes power. Condition of Bangladesh will be like Egypt.”
He urged countrymen to vote for Awami League to avoid such situation.
With the president of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Mobarok Ali Sikder in the chair, organizing secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League Shahe Alam Murad, Dramatist Hasan Imam and younger son of Malek Ukil Bahauddin Kelon, among others, addressed the programme.
