FROM SYLHET: Opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday categorically said her party wouldn’t take part in the next general elections under Awami League-led government.
The BNP chief came up with the assertion while addressing a rally in the afternoon at Alia Madrasa ground in the city.
Criticizing Awami League, Khaleda Zia said they want the next general elections for their own interest instead of others. “We want the election under a non-partisan caretaker government for the sake of people’s interest.”
The former prime minister said, “Awami League initiated violent agitations along with Jamaat for the caretaker government during BNP regime.”
“The then BNP government fulfilled the demand Awami League of free and fair polls,” she said.
Opposition leader in the House, Khaleda Zia took her seat at the stage in rally at 3:00pm.
On the same demand, she addressed in four separate mass rallies at Narsingdi, Khulna, Rangpur and Rajshahi.
