DHAKA: Although the authority of Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) cancelled booking of the event of Shommilito Peshajibi Parishad, Khaleda Zia expressed determination to join the programme as a chief guest on Sunday afternoon.

A huge numbers of law enforcers were deployed with prison vans and water canons at BICC and around it in city’s Agargaon area from the morning.

In this circumstance, BNP Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that they were still prepared to join the conference and they would wait to the last moement.

On the other side, DMP Deputy Commissioner of Mirpur zone Biplob Kumar Sarkar said that it is forbidden to hold any kind of meeting, procession and rally in the capital.

The authority of (BICC) has already faxed the organizers of the event about the cancellation of booking in this regard, he added.

He also said that they will take necessary steps lawfully if anyone tries to break the rule.

However, earlier on Saturday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed a ban on holding any kind of meeting, procession and rally in the capital for an indefinite period from Sunday morning to avert anarchy and confrontation.
