BNP rally at 2pm; tension mounts

DHAKA: Opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance is set to stage a mass rally at capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan at 2:00pm Friday to press their demand of restoration of caretaker government.

In the meantime, the party has taken all out preparation for the rally.

On Thursday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) allowed the alliance to hold the rally on 13 conditions.

The conditions include- BNP can’t use mike outside of Suhrawardy Udyan, sufficient security personnel should be deployed, no gatherings will be allowed outside the Udyan, rally stage can’t shift where police fixed, all have to leave the venue within 5pm on the day and none can carry any lethal weapon.

Ruling Awami League decided not to hold rally in the capital on October 25 Friday as they did not get permission from DMP.

Tension mounting in the capital as Awami League activists determined to take position in different points of the capital.

The government deployed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in capital city, Narayanganj and other divisional cities from Thursday evening to keep control over law & order amid political tension.
