DHAKA: After Dhaka and Chittagong, police administration gave permission the opposition alliance to hold rallies in
Rajshahi, Rangpur, Bogra and Khulna districts on Friday morning.
Earlier on Thursday evening, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) allowed the 18-party alliance to hold the rally on 13 conditions. Later Chittagong Metropolitan Police also permitted them to hold rally.
Regarding the permission on rally, Rajshahi Metropolitan police commissioner Barrister Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews that the situation of city is now calm. So, we permitted 18-party to hold rally on conditions.”
Rajshahi City BNP general secretary Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon said after getting permission, 18-party leaders are thronging the Rajshahi College premises. After holding rally, the protesters will bring out a procession from rally venue.
On the other hand, administration permitted 18-party to hold rally Friday at Bogra Central School ground amid section 144 in the district.
Earlier on Thursday, the administration imposed Section 144 at the district town from 6:00pm Thursday till 6:00 pm Saturday to avert any violence as ruling Awami League and opposition BNP convened meeting at same time and venue.
Bogra executive magistrate Habibul Hasan Rumi told banglanews that the process is underway to withdraw the section 144.
When contacted, Rangpur deputy commissioner Farid Ahmed told banglanews that the 18-party alliance got permission to hold rally.
The Khulna district administration also gave permission the opposition alliance to hold rally.
