Shibir threatens DMP high-ups

DHAKA: Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, threatened all high officials of Dhaka Metropolitan police including deputy commissioners (DCs), additional deputy commissioners (ADCs) and Officers-in-Charge (OCs), sending mobile phone text messages.

From a number using by ‘Jago Janata’, an unknown organization, sent the text messages through ‘bulk’ system at around 5:20am Friday to official mobile phone numbers of all DCs, ADCs and OCs.

The messages stated “You police officers; stay with people. Your steps are being monitored. Awami League tenure is expired.”

Mirpur zone DC Imtiaj Ahmed admitted about the recipient of the message.

Many officers including Mirpur Zone assistant commissioner Shakawat Hossain, Shahbagh police station OC Sirajul Islam and Kafrul police station OC Kazi Wajed Ali also confirmed the matter.

When contacted, joint commissioner of detective branch of police Monirul Islam denied to make any comment in this regard but said they are investing about the message.
