CHANDPUR: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by BNP of, is underway in Faridganj Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The party and its associate organizations are observing the lockdown protesting the killing of four BNP activists.
Sources said that all types of vehicle service remained stopped while most of the shops were closed.
Meanwhile, following killing the incident district BNP declared several programs including Gayabana Janaza, holding black badge and mourning procession.
Earlier on Friday, according to the central instruction, BNP activists tried to get together in upazila bus stand area but police protested them.
Being protested they locked into clash with cops, leaving four BNP men shot dead and 50 others injured including five police and a journalist.
Faridganj police station Officer-in-Charge Najmul Haque told banglanews, “Three separate cases were filed in this connection.”
