Shibir men torch Bapex staff bus

DHAKA: Activists of Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, set on fire at a staff bus of Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration Company (Bapex), in front of Fahad Tower in capital’s Dania area on Sunday.

Witnesses said some Shibir activists brought out a procession in the area at around 8:15am in support of 60-hour hartal called by 18-parry alliance.

They torched the vehicle and blasted couple of cocktails and fled the scene.

Later, locals doused the fire.

The 60-hour nonstop nationwide hartal, called by the BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway on Sunday morning amid stray incidents of violence.
