DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 has fixed November 27 for indictment hearing against former state minister Mohammad Kaiser, also Jatiya Party (JP) leader, by taking the formal charge against him into cognizance.
A 3-member tribunal headed by Justice Obaidul Hasan passed fixed the date on Thursday with the presence of ICT-2 prosecutors Jeyad Al Malum, Rana Dasgupata and Haider Ali. Besides, Abdus Sobhan Tarafder moved for the accused.
Earlier, ICT-2 prosecutors Turin Afroz, Jeyad Al Malum, Taposh Kanti Bal and Rezia Sultana Chaman submitted the formal charge on Sunday via tribunal registrar.
The formal charge stated that Kaiser had formed an associated organization to assist Pakistani military forces in Habiganj district in 1971. His group was known as Kaiser Bahini. The group helped Pakistani forces for mass killing and rape.
A total of 18 allegations, including genocide, abduction, murder, confinement, torture and arson were brought against him.
On May 21, law enforcers arrested Kaiser from capital’s Apollo hospital and now he is in bail.
