DHAKA: Tight security measures were taken surrounding the areas of national mosque ‘Baitul Mukarram’ in the city to avert any untoward situation ahead of demonstration of Hefajat-e-Islam on Friday.
Law enforcers initiated rummage around the north and south entrance of the mosque and Armed Personnel Carriers (APC) are set near Paltan intersection for investigating suspected peoples.
Officer-in-Charge of Paltan Thana Sarwar Hossain told banglanews: “The members of law enforcement are kept alert and they are investigating before the Jumma prayer to ensure security in the mosque and adjacent areas.”
On Wednesday, Hefajat-e-Islam announced demonstration throughout the country protesting Qawmi Madrasa act.
