DHAKA: The two tons of Shamsur Rahman and Imrul Kayes helped Bangladesh survive in their first innings against the big 587-run score of the Sri Lanka on third day of the second and final Test in Chittagong on Thursday.
The hosts, however, lost eight wickets to score 409 runs after the over-115 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Mahmudullah and Al-Amin Hossain were not out with 30 and 3 runs respectively at the end of the day keeping a hope to reduce Sri Lanka lead on following day.
Shamsur Rahman and Imrul Kayes were bowled out after getting 106 and 115 runs.
Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh lost Tamim Iqbal for a duck in the first over. Lakmal bagged the wicket.
Sri Lanka scored 587 runs for all wickets in the first innings on the second day of the test.
Sangakkara and Jayawardene scored 319 and 72 runs respectively.
Shakib Al Hasan bagged five wickets while Nasir Hossain took two wickets. Besides, Al-Amin Hossain, sohag Gazi and Mahmudullah picked up one wicket each.
Earlier on January 30, Sri Lanka won the first Test against the hosts by innings and 248 runs in Mirpur.
