Lions defeat Tigers at Mirpur

DHAKA: Visiting Sri Lanka has defeated Bangladesh by 13 runs in the first ODI at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur in the capital Monday.

Chasing 181-run target, Tigers managed to score 167 runs losing all wickets in 39.2 over.

Earlier, the hosts won the toss and elected to field first.

The visitors lost all wickets to score 180 runs in 40-over.

NLTC Perera took not out 80 while Senanayake scored 30.      

Shakib Al Hasan, Rubel Hossain and debutant Arafat Sunny bagged two wickets each while Al-Amin Hossain and Shohag Gazi one each. KDK Vithanage and Dinesh Chandimal were run out.

Shamsur Rahman and Mominul Haque are on the crease with 9 and 20 run respectively.

The match, started at 2:45pm, was delayed due to wet outfield caused by rain.

Later, the umpires decided to start the play at 2.45pm and the match has been reduced to 43 overs a side.

Earlier, Sri-Lanka won the T-20 series beating Bangladesh by three wickets in the second match in Chittagong.
