DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced that fool-proof security will be in place for T-20 World Cup and Asia Cup cricket tournaments ahead.
DMP commissioner Benzir Ahmed said that Bangladesh was committed to ensuring the safety and security of every player taking part in the tournaments and cricket buffs from home and abroad watching the matches in various stadiums across the country.
He was talking to journalists during a visit to the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium to monitor security arrangements.
He added Bangladesh hosting the tournaments is a matter pride for the whole country and its people.
"DMP will do everything that is necessary to ensure peaceful playing conditions", he asserted.
"We hosted some matches in 2011. That experience will come in very hand now."
“We will work together with law enforcement agencies and detective branch. Moreover we will seek the assistance of external intelligence agencies to achieve our objective."
Not only match venues but hotels and various landmarks of the city will be monitored by police to ensure the security of cricket fans, he added.
"No stones will be left unturned to ensure that T-20 World Cup and Asia Cup cricket tournaments are staged peacefully",he added.
