DHAKA: India won their face-saver match against debutant Afghanistan by eight wickets in the Asia Cup 2014 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium of Mirpur in city on Wednesday.
They chased down Afghanistan’s 159 runs in 32.2-over with the loss of two wickets.
Two openers AM Rahane and S Dhawan scored 56 and 60 runs respectively.
Mohammad Nabi and Mirwais Ashraf took one wicket each.
Earlier in the day, Indian captain V Kohli won the toss and elected to field first at Mirpur.
Afghan scored 159 runs in 45.2 over with the batting assistance of Samiullah Shenwari and Noor Ali Zadran.
Samiullah Shenwari scored 50 runs while opener Noor Ali Zadran scored 31.
Indian bowler Ravindra Jadeja bagged four wickets and R Ashwin took two wickets while Mohammed Shami and A Mishra picked up one wicket each.
