Sri Lanka win Asia Cup 2014

DHAKA: Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup for the fifth time by chasing down 260-run set by former champion Pakistan in Mirpur on Saturday afternoon.

They scored 261 runs loosing five wickets in 46.2-over at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Lahiru Thirimanne scored 101 while DPMD Jayawardene scored 75 runs.

Said Ajmal bagged three wickets while Junaid Khan and Mohammad Talha took one wicket each.

Earlier, defendant champion Pakistani batsmen finished their innings with a score of 260 runs loosing five wickets.

Middle order batsman Fawad Alam scored his maiden ODI century in the match. He scored unbeaten 114 runs while captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored 65 and Umar Akmal scored 59 runs respectively.

Sri Lanka bowler Lasith Malinga took all five Pakistan wickets.  

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat.
