Dhaka: ICC full member status holder Zimbabwe is set to face ICC Associate Member Ireland in the qualifying round of ICC World T20, 2014 on Monday afternoon.
On the Second day of the tournament, both the teams will play with the threat of elimination hanging over their heads since only one team will qualify from Group B of the World T20’s qualifying round.
The match will kick-off at 3:30pm local time at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
This is believed that one of two matches – Bangladesh v Afghanistan and Ireland v Zimbabwe-- that would decide who would qualify for the Super 10 round of the tournament.
Zimbabwe was embarrassed by debutants Hong Kong in the warm-ups but rebound by Afghanistan. Ireland beat Nepal in the first practice match, and then were defeated by Bangladesh.
Both sides are in a win-win situation.
According to cricinfo.com, Ireland captain William Porterfield said “The fact that we haven`t played them in a T20 before does not really matter. When you play against each other in international cricket, everyone knows pretty much everyone."
