DHAKA: Match 40 of the Pepsi Indian Premier League featuring Kolkata Knight Riders and defending champions Mumbai Indians, which was scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 14, has now been shifted to Cuttack's Barabati Stadium.
The decision to change the venue was taken because the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal coincide with the match day. Kolkata Police informed the Cricket Association of Bengal that they would not be able to provide security cover at Eden.
However, the police have assured security for the remaining three matches, scheduled to be played in Kolkata, on May 20 , 22 and 24 respectively.
"I am happy that Cuttack will be hosting an additional match in the ongoing season of the Pepsi IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders will be playing an 'away' game in Cuttack, against Kings XI Punjab, on 11 May. KKR will then stay back in Cuttack, and play a 'home' game against Mumbai Indians, on 14 May. Both sides can expect the support of the spectators, and the spectators in turn can expect some fantastic cricket," said Ranjib Biswal, Chairman of the IPL Governing Council.
