DHAKA: Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 27 runs (D/L method) in the first semifinal of the ICC World T20 at Mirpur in the capital on Thursday night.
Earlier, Lankans won the toss and elected to bat first at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.
Sri Lanka lost 6 wickets to score 160 runs in 20-over.
HDRL Thirimanne scored 44 runs off 35 balls while AD Mathews took 40 runs off 23 balls.
On the other hand, West Indies bowler K Santokie bagged 2 wickets while S Badree got 1.
West Indies scored 80 runs losing four wickets in 13.5-over before the rain stopped the play.
D Bravo scored 30 run while MN Samuels scored 18-run.
SL Malinga bagged two wickets while KMDN Kulasekara and S Prasanna took one wicket each.
Umpires, around 10:26pm, declared Sri Lanka as winner by 27 runs through D/L method.
They will face the winner of second semifinal between India and South Africa in the final, scheduled to be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on April 6.
