DHAKA: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) admits that Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib al Hasan's contributions cannot be forgotten, with the tight overs he throws in along with the considerable amount of runs he piles onto the scoreboard.
KKR site made the remark in its latest blog write-up titled “Into the Playoffs!”
The full text of the write up is as follows:
The Knights registered their sixth consecutive win last evening. We had lost the toss and were put into bat first, unlike our last five victories where we chased down totals. This was a much needed victory, since it ensures us a place in the Playoffs. At one stage, we were fighting to break away from the mid-table clutter and now that we have done it, we would like to go higher from the third spot to the second!
The Knights have fought well to get this far, after an initial spate of defeats. Hats off to Gautam Gambhir, who despite being under immense scrutiny, managed to set an example with his excellent leadership. Robin Uthappa is in really good form, and the way he is batting, it wouldn't be a stretch to expect him back in the national side. Shakib al Hasan's contributions cannot be forgotten, with the tight overs he throws in along with the considerable amount of runs he piles onto the scoreboard. Along with these three, the rest of the team has been chipping in with some strong performances. Yusuf Pathan has started timing the ball well, and he might just be another innings away from a big score himself!
The Knights are playing well as a unit, and this is the best time to start winning. We will hope to carry forward this form into our next few matches. Now that we're into the Playoffs, the task at hand only gets tougher. And the way the Knights are going now, they're certainly up to the challenge. Your support has meant a lot to the team and it's showing in their performance. So keep cheering!
