DHAKA: Colombia moved top of World Cup Group B with a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast at Estádio Nacional de Brasilia in Brazil on day eight.
Second-half goals from Manchester United-linked James Rodriguez and Juan Quintero gave Colombia a two-goal lead, rendering Gervinho’s fine individual goal a mere consolation.
Ivory Coast threw on Didier Drogba as they went in search of an equaliser and threatened with a number of balls into the box towards the striker. Fellow substitute Saloman Kalou fired straight at the keeper when Gervinho was perhaps better placed during Ivory Coast’s best move, while Quintero almost capped the win with an audacious effort from the half-way line.
