DHAKA: Shaiman Anwar's rapid ton helped United Arab Emirates (UAE) to set a 279-run target for Ireland in the 16th Match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Brisbane on Wednesday.
Chasing the target, Ireland have scored 24 for one at the end of over-8. ED Joyce and William Porterfield are at the crease with 10 and 11 runs respectively.
Earlier, Ireland captain William Porterfield won the toss and invited UAE to bat at Brisbane Cricket Ground in Woolloongabba of Brisbane.
UAE scored 278 for nine losses playing fifty overs at Woolloongabba.
Shaiman Anwar scored 106 runs off 83 balls. Amjad Ali and Amjad Javed contributed 45 runs off 71 balls and 42 runs off 35 balls. Khurram Khan added 36 runs 53 balls.
Ireland’s MC Sorensen, AR Cusack, PR Stirling, and KJ O'Brien took two wickets each while GH Dockrell bagged one.
