DHAKA: Bangladesh won 3-match ODI series beating Pakistan by 7-wicket in the second match at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur in city on Sunday.
After the century in first match of the series, Tamim Iqbal scored yet another century in this match, his sixth in ODI, helping Bangladesh to chase down the Pakistan-set a 240-run target.
Blazing Tamim scored 116-run (not out), while Mushfiqur Rahim amassed a breezy 65-run. Bangladesh scored 240-run losing three wickets in 38.1-over.
Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali and Saeed Ajmal took one wicket each for Pakistan.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Azhar Ali won the toss and decided to bat first in the match that kicked off at 2:30pm.
Pakistan batsmen recovered from a tattering start of 77-run for the loss of five wickets at a stage, thanks to the 77-run partnership between Saad Nasim and Haris Sohail and 85-run partnership between Saad Nasim and Wahab Riaz.
Saad Nasim scored 77 runs while Haris Sohail and Wahab Riaz took 44 and 51 runs respectively.
Shakib Al Hasan was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh. He took two wickets while Arafat Sunny, Rubel Hossain, Nasir Hossain and Mashrafe Mortaza took one wicket each.
Tamim Iqbal was adjudged Man of the Match for his blazing century.
With Sunday’s match, Mortaza has become the third Bangladesh cricketer to play 150 ODIs, playing 148 for the country and two for Asia XI in 2007 so far.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium to share the moments with the players. She also congratulated the national cricket team for the historic series win over Pakistan.
With winning the first match by 79 runs after a 16-year hoodoo, now Bangladesh have stood on a chance to make another historic moment, wining the third match to completed historic whitewash of Pakistan.
