DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday announced award worth of Tk 2-crore for Bangladesh Cricket Team for their outstanding success in World cup 2015, in One-Day International (ODI) Series and only T20 against Pakistan.
The PM came up with the announcement during a lunch at her Ganabhaban official residence.
Of those, Tk 1 crore will be given for their excellent performance in the World Cup, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The reward is given to boost their confidence. Moreover, Tk 1 crore is awarded for wining the ODI Series 3-0 against visiting Pakistan.
Apart from this, the premier also declared to establish a welfare trust for players and people involved in country’s sports sector.
Earlier, Bangladesh was qualified for the quarter-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 following its victory over England at the Adelaide Oval.
Then, in home series, Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan in the three-match ODI Series.
On Friday, Bangladesh beat Pakistan by seven wickets in the only Twenty20 international (T20I) at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur in city.
