DHAKA: A media planning company ‘Top of Mind’ on Wednesday won the sponsorship rights for Bangladesh national cricket team (male, female and U-19s) for the next two years for a bid of Tk 41.41-crore.
‘Top of Mind’ will accompany the cricket team from the upcoming tour of India in Bangladesh for a Test match and three-match ODI series.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon disclosed the matter at a press conference at BCB at noon.
The auction for winning sponsorship rights took place in three phases. Grameen Phone led the first two phases. Their last bid was Tk 41-crore. The base price was set at Tk 30 crore.
Earlier, BCB received six proposals for the national team’s sponsorship rights for next two years, starting from the India series in June, said BCB chief executive officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
Last month, the BCB awarded ‘Top of Mind’ with the team sponsorship rights for the Pakistan series.
The agreement was completed after the BCB’s four-year contract with Aamby Valley, an affiliate of Sahara India Parivar, was terminated 15 months before it was scheduled to end.
The winning quote reportedly was more than Tk 3-crore.
