DHAKA: Terming all the news items of stepping down from the post of manager of Bangladesh National Cricket Team as rumors, Khaled Mahmud Sujon on Monday said that he will continue to discharge his duties.
Former captain of the national team also said he sent an email to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury on June 7 with the request of appointing him on a permanent basis.
Sujon was talking to journalists at BCB office at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in city’s Mirpur area in the afternoon.
Earlier, a news item went viral that said the BCB executive committee on Monday held a meeting to find a replacement of Khaled Mahmud Sujon, manager of national cricket team, who expressed his inability to observe the responsibilities due to “familial reasons”.
The news reports also said former all-rounder of the team sent an email to BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury on June 7 mentioning his resignation.
Sujon, however, also expressed his disappointments about the media reports of his stepping down.
The former all-rounder was the manager of Bangladesh national team in ICC World Cup 2015 held in Australia and New Zealand.
