DHAKA: Bangladesh beat India by 79 runs in their first game of the three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in city’s Mirpur on Thursday.
The visiting team lost all wickets to score 228 run in response to the Bangladesh-set 308-run target.
Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina scored 63, 30 and 40 runs respectively.
Mustafizur Rahman grabbed five wickets and became player of match. Shakib and Taskin bagged two wickets each.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first. The match kicked off at 3:00pm local time.
The host team scored 307-run, the highest team total losing all wickets in 49.4-over. Tamim, Soumya, Shakib and Sabbir Rahman took 60, 54, 52 and 41 respectively before going back to pavilion.
Ashwin took three wickets while B Kumar and UT Yadav took two wickets each. Jadeja and MM Sharma took one each while Soumya was run out by Raina.
