Mustafizur sets world record

DHAKA: Bangladesh paceman Mustafizur Rahman set a new record of taking 11 wickets in his first two consecutive One Day Internationals (ODI) matches on Sunday.

The 19-year-old seamer also became the second bowler to take five-fors in his first two ODIs Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in city.

Mustafizur earned an outstanding figure of 10-0-43-6 in the second ODI of the three-match series between Bangladesh and India, destroying India batting lineup completely.

His off cutter removed RG Sharma, MS Dhoni, SK Raina, AR Patel and R Ashwin.

On June 18, the left-arm medium pacer made his ODI debut in the opening game of the series where his bowling figure was 9.2-1-50-5.

He picked up RG Sharma, AM Rahane, SK Raina, MS Dhoni, RA Jadeja, R Ashwin in the opening match.

Zimbabwean cricketer Brian Vitori, however, became is the first-ever ODI player to take two five-wicket hauls in his first two matches.

In his ODI debut, Brian took a 5-30 against Bangladesh on 12 August 2011, followed by another 5-20 in his second game on August 14, 2011.
