Bangladesh achieved new landmark of winning its first ODI series against India. Bangladesh won the first ODI on Thursday last by 79 runs. With another match remaining, Bangladesh may achieve another Banglawash. The way Bangladesh dominated India in the first two matches the prospect of Banglawash happening is getting bigger and brighter now. India is appearing to have no clue what is happening. They could not decode the mystery bowler Mustafiz yet neither have they had answers on how to shackle the flamboyant Bangladeshi batsmen. The result cannot term as an upset. The way better team won convincingly outsmarting the opponent in all departments of the contest.

Rohit played only two deliveries before getting back to the pavilion without bothering the scorers and his team scored 28 runs less than the first ODI. Match report:
MS Dhoni in the post-match interview talked of going back to drawing board to assess and analyze the failures and mistakes of the first match. They were actually surprised by the mystery bowler Mustafiz. They also did not expect the savage aggression of Bangladeshi batsmen against their bowlers specially the pacers. Consequently, three changes were made. Struggling pacers Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav were replaced with DS Kulkarni and AR Patel. Talented Batsman Ajinka Rahane was also replaced with Ambati Rayadu. Rayadu and Patel both scored ducks and DS Kulkarni remained unbeaten on 2. Even with the ball Patel and Kullkarni did not impress much upon Bangladesh batsmen though they managed to take a wicket each as Bangladesh lost only four wickets in overhauling Indian target of 200.
India was pegged back by the bubbling lad Mustafiz very early when Rohit attempting to square drive his very second ball was snapped up brilliantly by Sabbir. This brought in Kohli to pair with Dhawan. The positive intent of Indian batsmen was visible as both took some calculated risks and tried to prevail upon the mental strength of young pacers Mustafiz and Taskin. Very intelligent Mashrafe unleashed his plan B introducing occasional off spinner Nasir Hossain and himself burdening the responsibility. Nasir delivered and bowled excellent spell of accurate off spin. His 2/33 in 10 overs never allowed any luxury or comfort to aggressive looking Indian batsmen. Nasir removed Dhawan and Kohli. Rubel Hossain also re-gathered his momentum and bowled with hostile pace. He got the wicket of Ambati Rayadu before he could open his account. Captain Cool (?) Dhoni promoted himself in the batting order at four in an effort to hold the innings together. He started milking the bowling with smart singles and converting singles to doubles. Joined by Suresh Raina they were in a rescue and consolidation mission. Smart Mashrafe keep attacking the Indian batsmen setting very aggressive field and rotating his bowlers intelligently.
Mustafiz was held back for batting power play. As soon as he was introduced Indians appeared to be groping in the dark and searching for the ball. Brilliant natural bowler fooled Raina and then Dhoni with two great well concealed off cutters. He also removed Patel on the very first ball creating his second opportunity of getting a hat trick in consecutive matches. Indian batting fell apart once more triggered by Mustafiz magic. Rain came to some momentary relief for the Indians reeling at 195/8. Mustafiz had only two balls left of his last over. When play resumed after over an hours interruption Mustafiz deceived Jadeja with another beautifully concealed slower delivery. His 6 wickets haul carried him to the record book surpassing the achievement of New Zealander Brian Vittori. Mustafiz is now the only bowler taking 11 wickets in his first two ODIs.
Bangladesh was set a revised target of 200 to be achieved in 47 overs by Duckworth Lewis method. With history in the reckoning, tigers appeared a bet shaky at the start though no one really had much concern consider the strength of the talented Bangladesh batting. Tamim for a chance could not last long get out to Kulkarni scoring 13. This brought together two talented youngsters Soumya and Liton. However, not at their brilliant flamboyant best yet they batted well responding to the situation.
The pair added 52 valuable runs before Soumya fell to Ashwin scoring 34. Liton also fell soon to Patel bringing two maestros of Bangladesh Cricket Mushfiqur and Shakib. They were advancing merrily on their merry sweet ways till Mushfiqur ran himself out trying for a difficult second run. By that time Bangladesh was closer to target at 152/4. Shakib was firmly anchored and another talented youngster Shabbir appeared on the scene. This pair took Bangladesh across the finishing tape without any further damage. Bangladesh won huge and handsome by 6 wickets and 9 more overs to spare. Shakib scored his second fifty of the series.
With this six wickets win, Bangladesh confirmed its berth in the 2017 Champions trophy. The enigmatic Bangladesh Captain featured in all five Bangladesh win against India. What a leader he proved to be. With his Midas touch what he touched turned gold.
Top Bowling Performers of Bangladesh in ODI
Mustafiz the Comet:
The teenager from a remote village appeared as a real comet. He is the true version of Vini, Vici Vidi. India and rest of the world never had any idea about him before they came. They were caught by surprise when Captain Courageous Mashrafe plotted the four man pace attack and unleashed his young charge in the very first over of the first ODI. He started impressing one and all from the very first appearance. A frail structured boy with his swing, natural angular delivery and cleverly camouflaged off cutters created maze for Indian batsmen. They failed to decode him in the first match and got more confused with his variation in the second.
Though it is too early to draw any comparison, yet few have started remembering the Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram. To us he appears more of Mohammad Amir brand. He has a long way to go. As he matures, he will grow some muscles and add some more tricks in his repertoire. The boy who can bowl such magical spells on flat Bangladesh surface can be lethal on English Wickets. Hope he will be nursed and cared well.
Banglawash:
Bangladesh is on the threshold of yet another series white wash. It may not be unrealistic judging from the relative situation of both teams. Mustafiz is not letting other bowlers taking wickets. He could get six in the first match also if he did not drop a return catch of his own bowling. He had lots of play and miss in the second match. One of the concerns is Taskin not getting wickets. But the third ODI may find him in his brilliant best. Bangladesh may like to have a look on Rony Taukdar. But it cannot be conceived where to. Who will dare to change a winning combination?
